In 2014, 48.4% of cars passed the NCT first time (1,344,268 initial tests at 47 centres), up 1.8 points on 2013. The best result was Kilkenny (57.7%); the lowest, Clifden (35.2%).

The busiest centre was Fonthill with 91,602 initial tests. The biggest improvement on 2013 was at Cavan (+6.6 points) and the biggest drop at Carndonagh (-5.4 points). In 2015 the national rate was 48.1%: see the 2015 ranking.

Pass rate = cars that passed at the initial test divided by initial tests, from the table by centre in the NCTS annual review. From 2018, "pass pending recheck" (minor items fixed without a retest) counts as a pass, as in the RSA open data. Retests are excluded.
